Reflection
During my practicum during the pandemic, I tried to keep students and parents informed. For students, I had them sign up for the Remind app so they can receive messages (as they don't check emails often). Additionally, I emailed parents throughout the year. We needed to know which students were going to be distant learning so I created a form that we emailed parents. We created various bell schedules as we had to adjust to changes throughout the year and communicated them with students and staff. Additionally, we use a credit recovery system called APEX and I created district procedures for how to create the courses, necessary training, and how to add students. As the counselor, I also am often informing parents on college information, working with admissions representatives, sending out information on programs and tests such as the ACT, PSAT, and MCA's and formulating the emails to fit the audience. Communication is a strength.
